Russell Wm. Palin has been practicing law since 1983.


He has been involved in all levels of court cases including, the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada.


After earning a degree in Economics(Dean’s list standing), Russell attended Osgoode Hall Law School where he completed his LL.B. In 1981, Russell moved to Peterborough where he articled with Howell Fleming LLP. Russell joined the firm as a lawyer in 1983, and became a partner in 1985.


In 2006, he established his own practice in Peterborough. He has been serving Peterborough and the surrounding community for more than 28 years.


His practice has included personal injury claims, insurance defence work, professional negligence claims, wrongful dismissal claims (both for the employer, and the employee), commercial litigation, estate litigation, real estate litigation, municipal and general litigation matters.


In the past, Russell has had extensive experience representing clients having criminal matters before the Courts.


Russell has participated in Coroner’s Inquests and has attended at the hearings of the Ontario Municipal Board, the Workplace and Safety Board, as well as various other tribunals.


In addition to his economics degree and law degree, Russell has attended, and completed, ADR courses, including advanced ADR courses.  He has extensive mediation skills, which he utilizes in his practice.


While at law school, he had the privlege of attending the University of Sherbrooke, on scholarship to study French Civil Law. 


He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association, American Association for Justice (formerly Association of Trial Lawyers of America) and the Peterborough Law Association.


Russell is also an active member of the community. He has served on numerous community service boards including the United Way, the former Family Counseling Services Board ( now the Community Counselling & Resource Centre), the Peterborough Theatre Guild, the Children’s Aid Society and Peterborough's Big Brothers and Big Sisters Association. Russell has also had the privilege of serving on both the provincial, and national, boards of Big Brothers of Canada, as well as volunteering as Big Brother himself.


In the past, Russell has enjoyed amateur theatre, having been involved with productions at both the Peterborough Theatre Guild, and the St. James Players.


Russell has taught at Fleming College and sat on the Steering Committee for its Law Clerk Program.
